The Apprentice Beekeeper certification has the following goals:
- Familiar with common terms and concepts of bees and beekeeping.
- Basic overview of apiary management, and pollination.
- Breadth of knowledge regarding pests and diseases.
- Possess the skills to maintain a small apiary.
Through your local beekeeping association, classroom instruction is provided to each candidate. The student then has the opportunity to take an open book test to achieve certification approval. Check with your local organization for class locations and times.
For those not able to seek certification through a local organization due to distance or schedule, please contact a WMB office or board member.
